The Rho Delta Lambda Education Foundation

In 2014, the RDL Education Foundation, Inc. was created as the non-profit charitable arm of the Rho Delta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. The Foundation exists to support the chapter's mission that emphasizes leadership development, fostering brotherhood, and promoting academic excellence joined with a strong commitment to community service and advocacy for all mankind.

The Foundation focuses on scholarship, programs and training and development of students in the chapter's service areas. The Foundation funds the programmatic implementation of Go-to-High School, Go-to-College; Project Alpha; Voteless People is a Hopeless People; the Martin Luther King, Jr Celebration Breakfast, The Charles T. Battle Jr. Scholarship, and the RDL Academy (a youth leadership development program).

MISSION

The mission of the Rho Delta Lambda Education Foundation is to develop leaders, and promote academic excellence, while providing service and advocacy for the communities of Upstate South Carolina. This mission is accomplished by:

1. Awarding college scholarships to Upstate SC area graduating seniors based on academic achievement and need.

2. Providing ongoing mentoring for students enrolled in elementary, middle, and junior high schools to support the development of their self-esteem, academic achievement and community values.

3. Conducting educational workshops and discussion groups for students on such topics as pregnancy prevention, communicable diseases and responsible parenting.

4. Providing enrollment scholarship for high school youths selected to attend the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Leadership Development Institute.

RDL Launches Endowment Campaign

The Rho Delta Lambda Education Foundation, in conjunction with the Rho Delta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. is launching an initiative to build long term sustainability to support scholarships for deserving high school students to pursue their education beyond high school and to support youth programs conducted by the Chapter to enrich and develop the leaders of tomorrow.

The foundation is launching an endowment campaign that aims to raise $100,000, including matching funds. Harold Cheatham, PhD, the campaign visionary, expresses confidence that our progress to date affirm the launch of this campaign as "right" for the Foundation and the Chapter. "This is the next major step that we really need to take to ensure that the mission of the foundation, the work of the chapter and the impact on the community is around for years to come. This endowment will really help us move onward and upward."

The Foundation seeks investors who appreciate and share the mission of building better people and communities through training and scholarship. "Our investors and partners are so critical to what we do and to what our program participants are able to do in the community. We are asking everyone to boldly support us as we step into a new era of leadership development and service to all," Foundation Chairman Kenneth Robinson, PhD said.
